Native Languages Program

About the Program

Welcome to Native Languages Program at Epic. Our vision is to provide Native language  to students regardless of geography and to collaborate with Tribal Nations language revitalization efforts.

Goals:

Develop a comprehensive Native language program to facilitate language acquisition and proficiency for all Epic Native language models. Provide Native students at Epic the opportunity to take a World Language (WL) course in their Native language, strengthening cultural ties. Provide more WL language choices for ALL Epic students to make relevant cultural connections. Oklahoma is home to 39 Tribal Nations and has a Native population of over 300,000 people.

Support:

Connect students and teachers to Native language courses offered by Tribes for credit through the Elective Portfolio Process.

  • Help tribes reach more tribal members with the language.

  • Assist tribes in the digitization of language materials.

  • Assist tribes with language teacher certification, if needed. (U-Teach).
