Sienna with Jeff Dukes, AAU, receiving the Nate Fleming Award

Sienna Smithson is a ninth-grader at EPIC Charter Schools. With several years of high school left, the power tumbler already has multiple colleges following her athletic career. The athlete and her mother credit EPIC with the freedom to pursue this passion without sacrificing her education.

“My responsibility is to help my child become a well-rounded, well-educated individual,” Sienna’s mother said. “EPIC helps me accomplish that without worrying about negative outside influences.”

Sienna demonstrates remarkable dedication to both her sport and education, completing schoolwork around her strenuous practice schedule. Her hard work was recently recognized when Sienna received the Nate Fleming Award, which honors one Amateur Athletic Union student in the state each year who has overcome significant obstacles to achieve academic success.
