Ever wanted to be in the spotlight? Are you a performance artist at heart? Here is an opportunity to shine and give life to renowned poems that have shaped the world!

Not only is this an amazing artistic opportunity, but you also have the chance to win major prizes!

It is an amazing experience to watch a young person stand confidently in front of their peers and recite a poem that has become personal to them through the act of memorization and recitation.

Since Poetry Out Loud™ started in 2005, more than 3.8 million students have found their poem. This national arts education program from the National Endowment for the Arts and Poetry Foundation encourages the study of great poetry.

Each state champion will receive $200 and in the past, an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to compete for the national championship. Due to COVID-19 the 2021 State and National competitions will be held virtually. Poetry Out Loud will award a total of $50,000 in cash and school stipends at the national finals, including a $20,000 award for the Poetry Out Loud National Champion.

This competition is only for 9th-12th grade students. You must memorize two poems from the Poetry Out Loud anthology. After your complete this sign-up form, you will be emailed information on participating. See you there!

When: Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Noon

Where: Due to the increased number of COVID cases in the metro area this will now be a virtual event.
