Association president calls partnership with charter school important to providing world-class opportunities for rodeo athletes.

EPIC Charter School, Oklahoma’s 14th largest school district, will be a title partner and the official charter school for the Oklahoma High School Rodeo Association (OHSRA) for its 2017-2018 season.

Superintendent David Chaney said the decision comes from having many OHSRA student athletes enrolled at EPIC because of the school’s schedule flexibility, which allows students to train during hours that brick and mortar public schools are in session.

EPIC offers a blended learning model for its more than 9,000 students, pairing online instruction with regular, face-to-face and one-on-one instruction with certified teachers. All students also can access 24/7 live instruction with subject experts through EPIC’s Homework Help program.

“We’re proud to be a part of helping our students reach their extracurricular dreams by providing them schedule flexibility, as well as a high-quality academic program. Our OHSRA athletes are competitive both in the arena and outside of it,” Chaney said.

As a 2017 title partner, EPIC will have a presence at all upcoming OHSRA events, beginning with this week’s Second Annual Border Bash at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, April 28-30.

“EPIC’s partnering with our organization is in itself epic because it will make a difference to our members,” said Jeff Todd, OHSRA president. “The OHSRA is comprised of high school students from across Oklahoma who are serious about their sport and their education. Charter schools like EPIC allow our members to complete their schoolwork on a flexible schedule, which allows them to practice and compete at a world-class level.”

Todd added that EPIC is the most popular charter school with OHSRA members and thus its partnership with OHSRA is fitting.

“EPIC’s partnership with OHSRA will benefit all of our members. We look forward to a lasting, meaningful partnership with this dynamic school.”
