Dear EPIC Families:
Whatever you celebrate or however you celebrate it, the holiday season is upon us. Despite this being the most challenging year most of us can recall, there are a multitude of blessings for which I am sincerely grateful, the most important of which is leading this school.
Many of you came to EPIC this school year as a result of the pandemic, a choice that I know was not necessarily comfortable or easy to make. Trying out a new academic learning model is never an easy thing, especially in light of a global health crisis, which brings with it its own set of uncertainties. To you, I say thank you for putting your trust in us and for giving us the opportunity to provide a quality and safe education for your learners. We hope you will be with us for as long as you need us.
For those of you who have been with EPIC for a time, thank you to you, too. Your continued belief in our school and our mission is a source of tremendous pride for me and has served as a ray of hope in what, at times, has been a very difficult year.
I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the struggles everyone is going through, this year especially. Many of you are hurting. Perhaps unemployment has impacted you or someone close to. Maybe you’re feeling dejected because you are unable to be with loved ones right now. My greatest wish would be to have the ability to simply remove those challenges from your lives. What I can do, however, is promise you that EPIC’s commitment to a safe and high-quality education is unwavering. That’s one thing you don’t have to worry about. Our faculty, staff and entire organization is focused on not just meeting your needs but developing ways to ease your burdens in this difficult time.
This holiday season, like so much of 2020, will likely look quite a bit different than we’re all used to. Yet there is every reason to believe that 2021 will be different, that vaccines and treatments will help our economy rebound. Please know you, our EPIC families, are in my thoughts every single day and I pledge EPIC faculty and staff will be doing everything in our power to make this coming new year a positive, memorable year for our students.
Tidings of comfort and joy to each of you.
Bart Banfield, Superintendent
