Student Spotlights: March 2014

Spring flowers are starting to pop up and bright sunny days are just around the corner.  What a great day to enjoy reading about four awesome Epic students.  It’s time for the March Student Spotlights!

Pre-Elementary: Scott Silva

ScottScott Silva is a young man on a mission to improve his reading and math skills. Has he accomplished it? Absolutely! His teacher said Scott’s dedication to making better scores not only was successful but also outstanding… 97th percentile. Good job Scott!

Summertime is Scott’s favorite time of the year. He enjoys football, playing with his train set, going to the movies, and watching the Smurfs on TV. His favorite school activity is reading and All Summers Fun is definitely his book of choice. Scott would like to be a hero when he grows up.

Elementary: Melanie Duran

Melanie Duran’s  teacher thinks this young lady is a joy to work with, dedicated to her school work, and a good example to others. She is one awesome student. Melanie enjoys science as a school subject which works well with her goal to become a zoo keeper when she grows up. Maybe she will work with tigers (her favorite animal).

When Melanie is not focused on becoming a spelling ace, she enjoys Tom and Jerry cartoons and a game of Monopoly. She likes visiting California and we wonder how many times she has been to that state. Melanie’s favorite thing about Epic is that she can do school in her pj’s if she wants. That sounds comfy.

Middle School: Heath Mosco

HeathJust one look at his picture and it’s already evident that Heath enjoys archery. But that’s not all! His favorite activities are reading, drawing animated characters, and a good game of chess. In his spare time he also enjoys an adventure movie like The Lord of the Rings series or anything with the martial arts actor Jackie Chan.

Heath’s teacher is impressed with his daily progress. He works ahead in his studies and even asks for additional school work to improve is math and English skills. Heath enjoys the fact he can work at his own pace and likes the way the programs are presented. All of this hard work is for Heath to reach his goal to become a chef. We wish him all the best.

High School: Sarah Miller

SarahOur High School Spotlight has already accomplished many of the prerequisites needed to apply for nursing school. That’s amazing! Sarah Miller is a senior at Epic and would like to be a nurse in a foreign country. Her teacher believes Sarah’s work ethic and determination will definitely help her reach this goal.

Sarah enjoys the outdoors:  camping, canoeing and swimming at the lake.  Her other favorite activities are drawing, photography, graphic design and traveling. She likes that Epic is flexible and her schedule allows her to do the volunteer work she loves.
